Overview
Mostly Swedish researchers report some of the findings of the Sectoral Systems in Europe: Innovation, Competitiveness and Growth (ESSY) research project, sponsored by the European Commission. The Internet and mobile telecommunications comprises one of the six sectoral systems. Ignoring existing and conventional systems, they look at the innovative production of equipment and intangible services as complementary aspects of both fixed and mobile systems. A main concern is the extent to which the overall strengths and weaknesses of factors leading to innovation in Europe impact this sector in particular.
