Overview

This book provides a fairly detailed overview of major topics concerning business law in Turkey. It will be of interest to Turkish and non-Turkish students, businesspersons, lawyers, and others concerned with this subject.

The areas of Turkish business law covered include the sale of personal property, consumer protection, agency, secured transactions, negotiable instruments, business associations, unfair trade practices, labor law, private international law, foreign investment, and privatization.

The book follows a similar format and is, to some extent, a continuation of a previous book, An Introduction to Turkish Law prepared by Professors Ansay and Wallace. It focuses particularly on commercial law because of its importance to Turkey's free market reforms which started in the 1980s and its recent progress towards becoming a full member of the European Union.
