Children's Literature - Rosa Roberts

What will a beginning Spanish reader learn about winter in this book? The obvious is the prevailing cooler climate, shorter days, trees losing their leaves, bears hibernating, people wearing warm clothing, and lakes freezing. The text has one sentence per page and glossary words are in bold type for young readers. The text is accompanied by actual photographs of wintertime. The book's compact size is hassle-free for young fingers to turn the pages. A glossary can be found at the end of the book along with an uncomplicated graphic depiction of the sun's rotation around the earth during each season. Other additional facts about the season are provided for readers, as well as an index. Additional information included is that in certain parts of the world the climate might be winterlike all year long, and that certain animals can camouflage themselves to hide in the snow.
