The Sullivans are Irish Americans who have visited the more than 100 homes, farms, guest houses, and inns listed here. Their guide, which is arranged by county of the Irish Republic (though not all counties are included) is to be used in conjunction with other guides or historical works, allowing readers to plan their own itineraries. A short introductory essay describes the attractions of each county. The listings for the lodgings include owners' names, number of rooms, rates in Irish pounds, smoking policy, and handicapped access. There is also a paragraph describing each home, the personality of the hosts, breakfast choices, and possibilities for nearby sightseeing, dining, and recreation. The drawings of each home are simple, the county maps too skimpy to be useful, and the index by home name irrelevant. Useful for large public collections.-William R. Smith, Johns Hopkins Univ.
