Overview
Jordan (social policy, U. of Exeter, UK) and Düvell (U. of Bremen, Germany and researcher at the U. of Exeter) have written an analysis that's based in part on their research of migrants in the UK and Germany. The authors examine the need for economic theories that accommodate the dilemma of transnational mobility inherent to a global economy and the pressures against accepting migrants typical of systems of finite membership groups. Interviews with migrants seek details as to why they migrated, the consequences of migration, and how they survived. The response of the host country to the migrants is considered in light of the migrant interviews as well as through analysis of immigration rules and other institutions.
