Overview

Though known for his work on television, in music, and in film, Jamie Foxx truly exploded onto the scene in 2004 with his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic Ray. The highly praised performance showed critics and fans alike that Foxx was a force to be reckoned with. Foxx's earlier work had been a series of hits and misses. Bright spots included his stint on the popular sketch-comedy show In Living Color and his platinum album, Unpredictable. Foxx's life was not always golden, however. He grew up in the segregated town of Terrell, Texas, and had little contact with his parents. Raised by his grandparents, Foxx learned the value of hard work and believing in himself. Jamie Foxx tells the story of this rising star.
