Gr 6-9 This history of Japan basically covers the period from the arrival of the first Europeans to its mid-20th-Century development into a leading industrial nation. Roberson begins with a glossary of Japanese terms and a note on the Japanese language. The writing is clear and concise and is at a level that average junior high students should be able to understand. This book is more thorough than most books for this age group. Black-and-white photographs and reproductions are interspersed throughout.
