Gr 3-5 Another formula biography of Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets. Similar in format to last year's Jim Henson: From Puppets to Muppets (Dillon, 1987) by Geraldine Woods, this title traces Henson's early days in television through Sesame Street 's success and the Muppet movies. Along the way Henson has expanded traditional puppetry into a highly creative art form that is appreciated by both children and adults. Muppet fans will enjoy the many photographs of Henson and his creations. Not as substantial in context as Woods' biography, this title unravels in the last chapter as Aaseng attempts to analyze Henson by using Kermit the Frog as his alter ego. From Puppets to Muppets is more positive and upbeat; . . .Muppet Master, while using essentially the same material, is just another biography. Pamela K. Bomboy, Chesterfield County Public Schools, Va.
