Synopsis

Children learn about nature as they follow the clues and find pop-up critters hidden behind gatefold flaps in each book of this charming series. Every brightly illustrated left-hand page has a set of clues that parents or older children can read aloud to them. Kids can then try to guess the name of the creature hiding nearby. The facing page with its gatefold contains a vivid landscape, typical of places where the mystery creature lives. But when kids lift the fold they get a big surprise. A full-color paper-engineered image of the mystery animal literally pops up from the page. The name of each mystery creature can be uncovered behind small lift-flaps on each book's last page.

Here are four different jumping critters: a frog, a grasshopper, a tiny flea, and a fascinating little desert animal called a jerboa -- or kangaroo rat.
