Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. About the Author, Charles Battell Loomis

Charles Battell Loomis (1861–1911) was an American author, born in Brooklyn, New York, and educated at the Polytechnic Institute there. He was in business from 1879 to 1891 but gave it up to devote himself to the writing of magazine sketches and books much appreciated for their humor.
