Gr 8-12-- Osborn provides readers with an extended, but very workable, definition of Justice and discusses its existence and relevance in interpersonal and intersocietal relationships. Aimed at hi/lo audiences, but with content that is applicable to a much broader clientele, the uncluttered pages feature a visually clear, almost double-spaced text and filled with both black-and-white and full-color photographs. The subject matter is presented in a forthright and interesting manner that encourages both self-evaluation and critical thought. Several fictionalized situations are offered for reflection and personal decision making. A historical overview shows the number of changes in the interpretation of justice over the years and its different applications in foreign cultures and among generations. Its relationship to the law is examined in detail, and relevant examples are provided to show what can occur when the system breaks down. Individuals and organizations are highlighted.
