You have just arrived on a mysterious island inhabited by killer dinosaurs. Before you know it you are witnessing a feeding frenzy among small compsognathus. Narrowly escaping the wrath of a carnotaurus, you realize how menacing these creatures are, and how fortunate you are not to have to contend with dinosaurs in your backyard. This volume in the "Prehistoric Safari" series lives up to the expectations of other titles in the series, with its large, detailed, colorful images, easily read text, and just-right pace for an overview into the lives of these dinosaurs. Each double page spread depicts hunting styles of several carnivorous dinosaurs, scientific information (e.g. meaning of their name, size, where they lived), factoids about their discovery, bone structure, or special features. There is speculation about why dinosaurs are no longer on earth, but no mention of a Biblical flood, so use caution when considering this alone for Christian-based libraries. Following the text are helpful charts comparing dinosaur sizes and time spans, a well done Glossary, index and suggestions for further reading, along with websites chock full of dinosaur facts and research aids.
