Overview

The "kilt" in question belongs to Mac, a young Scots soldier fighing in Africa during the Second World War, and is later worn by his grandson Tom-when he works as a table dancer in a Toronto gay club. That break with tradition upsets Tom's mother, Esther, and the rift in their relationship comes to a head when they travel to Scotland for Mac's funeral...

About the Author, Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson
With A Palestine Affair -- a combination thriller/literary romance -- Jonathan Wilson sweeps readers up into the chaos of 1920s Palestine. "Like the best of historical fiction, Wilson's story is placed in an imagined past, but it is really happening right now," says The Washington Post of Wilson's breakout novel.

Good To Know

In our interview, Wilson revealed some fun and fascinating facts about himself, including:

"At the age of 17 I was the fastest Jewish runner in England."

"I covered the 1994 soccer World Cup for The New Yorker. It was the best writing gig I ever had in my life."

"I became a U.S. citizen ten years ago. I got a couple of questions wrong on the test, but they let me through anyway."
