Overview
Jason Wood has been photographing Kodiak bears for more than seven years in Alaska. In this book he presents the fruits of his labors and offers insights into the behavior of this fascinating and occasionally dangerous creature.Synopsis
Alaska's Kodiak Island is the second-biggest island in the United States, but it owes much of its fame to two indigenous species on its natural preserves: Kodiak king crabs and Kodiak bears. The giant brown bears dwarf all other breeds; some grow to ten feet tall and weigh over 1,500 pounds. Professional photographer Jason Wood has been stalking these "Kodiak Kings" for seven years. This collection of 120 wilderness photographs includes his comments on each shot and commentary by Kodiak bear biologist Larry Van Daele. Awesome creatures lovingly "shot."
