This book, part of the Lerner set on the senses, is a great first step in introducing children to one of the most important senses we have. Almost every page begins with "I see." The photography is bright and bold. Children of various ethnic groups are photographed having fun and being curious about their world, which includes butterflies, bugs, balls, the sky, and other everyday objects. This small book also introduces children to a few concepts, such as circle, square, and more, which are explained in a short glossary at the back. Also included is a simple diagram of an eye, which illustrates how the eye sees. Included are seven facts about sight that will fascinate and intrigue children, such as how an ostrich's eye weighs more than its brain, and that a giant sea squid has the largest eye in the world. Both children and adults will learn something new about sight after reading this book. The book will make it easy to explain the age old question children ask: How do we see?
