It one of the best laser books I have read in terms of discussing practical, clinical concepts. It is well written and the author does not beat about the bush and leave readers wondering if a particular device is better than another. The pathophysiology is presented in a straightforward manner and is easy to understand. Laser physics is explained very clearly, much better than in the multitude of laser books currently available.
Purpose: The purpose is to educate dermatologists on which laser and light devices to use for which particular skin type and problem. The author does not overwhelm readers with study data, but there is an extensive bibliography.
Audience: The audience is dermatologists using lasers, radiofrequency devices, intense pulsed light, etc., in their practices.
Features: This excellent book discusses the practicality of using lasers and the potential problems that may arise, why they can occur, and how to make proper choices in one's practice. At the beginning of each chapter is a table highlighting the salient take-home messages. The pros and cons of the devices and the different modalities one can use for various skin disorders such as hyperpigmented lesions or unwanted hair are covered in a clear and efficient manner. This book was a pleasure to read and I recommend it to anyone who uses lasers or is thinking about using lasers.
Assessment: This is on my "must buy" list of laser books. Once you start reading it, you'll want to read it from beginning to end. It reveals what most laser books won't tell you. Why find out the hard way? Buy this book.
