Overview

As a youth, LeBron James might have been headed for trouble. Forced to grow up in a crime-ridden neighborhood of Akron, Ohio, LeBron was a poor student who often skipped school. But he turned his life around when he discovered sports, and soon developed into the top schoolboy athlete in Ohio.

After leading his high school team to three state basketball championships in four years, LeBron decided to enter the NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers made him the first player drafted in 2003. Their decision paid off immediately, as LeBron won Rookie of the Year honors. He has been selected to several all-star teams, and in the 2005-06 seasons he led the Cavaliers to the playoffs for the first time in eight years. In the 2006-07 season LeBron and the Cavaliers made it all the way to the playoff finals. Today, LeBron has become an international star and is considered among the top players in the NBA.
