School Library Journal

Gr 2-4-- Johnson's book features library terms or tasks beginning with each letter of the alphabet, black-and-white photographs, and short text descriptions. A section at the end of the book provides additional information about librarians. The tandem approach of letter to library term seems forced at times, such as G for glue, I for ink pad, T for traveling librarians, and X to mark weeded books. Automation and male and minority librarians are shown in the photos. This book does present a broad range of general library terms and tasks, and it will be useful for career and community helper units. --Janie Schomberg, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
