Gr 3-8-Attention-grabbing covers will attract readers to these hi/lo offerings. The introductions give a brief history of their topics; four short chapters then describe the roles of pilots and Special Forces teams, respectively, their qualifications and requirements, their training, and their missions. The format is inviting with half- to full-page color action photos. Acronyms and technical terms are defined in the text. The chapter titles and subheadings, printed in terra-cotta ink in a font that looks as though it were created on an old typewriter with a worn ribbon, do not enhance the format. Air Force has some accuracy problems. The four-engine prop planes shown in one photo are definitely not the World War I vintage biplanes mentioned in the text or implied in the caption. Reference is made to Largely AFB, VA, when it probably means Langley AFB. The caption accompanying a photo of the Air Force Academy states that it is located in Chapel, CO. Special Forces appears to be more accurate.
