Overview

First published in 1939, this classic story of the energetic tugboat is brought to new life in this restored edition. With the help and support of Hardie Gramatky's estate, to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, we have used archived first editions and Hardie's original paintings to restore Little Toot to its full glory, bringing back a richness of color that has been lost in decades of reprintings. This new edition also features several of the artist's full-color manuscript sketches, never before seen in print, and reintroduces the book's exquisite original endpapers.

Little Toot the tugboat conquers his fear of rough seas when he single-handedly rescues an ocean liner during a storm.

Synopsis

Now in print for more than sixty years, this classic story of "the cutest, silliest tugboat you ever saw" continues to delight children around the world. This 7 x 8 edition features original watercolor illustrations done by the late Hardie Gramatky.

Editorials

From Barnes & Noble

Little Toot is a sturdy little tugboat who loves to chug on the river, puffing out silly little smoke clouds as he goes. Little Toot is happy except for one thing: afraid of the ocean he hates to work. The other tugs complain that Little Toot only gets in the way and calls him a sissy. One stormy day, Little Toot's smoke clouds help out in a courageous rescue, and he becomes a hero. First published in 1939, Little Toot still captivates young readers.
