Synopsis
Increasingly the importance of industrial logistics is being recognised as a defined function of management integrating the previously separate functions of materials and distribution management. Accelerating this integration are new techniques arising from the increased use of computers and data transmission. A large part of the Logistics 87 conference was concerned with these techniques and their future development. In selecting papers the organising committee has been particularly concerned that papers have practical relevance, and two conference sessions have been devoted to case studies from a wide variety of industries, including discussions of the problems of global sourcing in relation to Just-in-Time manufacture.Book Details
