Children's Literature

This die-cut board book comes with a CD packaged on the inside back cover. The cover image shows a little bunny on a crescent moon using a cloud for a pillow. The story is not particularly original—mother wants her baby to go to sleep, but he is too busy watching everything and enjoying the sights and sounds of night. The text on the closing page notes, "It's Mother's soft, sweet voice…Little Bunny closes his eyes." as Mother sings another beautiful lullaby. The CD gives no printed credit to the reader/singer. The text of the book, additional material, and lullabies play for a total of 25 minutes. It is a nice package. Although the woman's speaking voice appears to have an accent, she is easy to understand and kids will hear every word of the text and songs. Nevertheless, I am not sure that it will help put them to sleep because they might want to stay awake and listen to the entire CD. 2006, Little Simon/Simon & Schuster, Ages 6 mo. to 2.
