Booknews

A textbook for a two-term course explaining the basic operations of the US economy. Rather than taking an encyclopedic approach, Tucker (U. of North Carolina-Charlotte) focuses on the most important tool in economics for analyzing supply and demand and applies it to real-world economic issues. One of his goals is to simplify the confusing array of economic analyses that force students simply to memorize in order to pass the course. No date is noted for the first edition; the second includes online and Web exercises, Internet addresses of relevant sites, more on international economics, and new chapter summaries. Annotation c.
