Synopsis
Bringing together contributions from businesspeople, academics, and researchers, Schaper (small business and entrepreneurship, U. of Newcastle, Australia) presents 17 papers that together provide a current snapshot of the entrepreneurial perspective on sustainable development. The first group of papers, presented under the heading of "Concepts," provides a brief overview of the field, classifies types and general models of "ecopreneurs," and considers policies to facilitate sustainable entrepreneurship. The next set of papers, on "Contexts and Conditions," considers the preconditions for ecopreneurship in India, the adoption of sustainable perspectives by entrepreneurs in Germany, the role of venture capital in promoting or inhibiting the growth of green firms, networking and industry clusters as tools of sustainability, and competitive strategies and financial performance of green firms in Europe. Finally case studies profile Hong Kong Dolphinwatch, Earth Sanctuaries, and other green ventures. Annotation ©2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
