Stowe, a professional furniture designer, feels that tables serve an important spiritual function: they are modern hearths people gather around for many social purposes. Here he offers directions for making nine different styles that will appeal to woodworkers of all skill levels. Included are some particularly attractive and somewhat different designs that should help the average woodworker (who may be stuck in a creative rut) broaden his or her horizons. Stowe shows how to create a stone-topped hall table, a recycled redwood deck table, a glass-topped conference table, and a number of other projects. His plans are well designed and have excellent illustrations. In several cases, he shows how to make jigs to perform specialized techniques that enhance the finished projects. Stowe's tables are "elegant" but, more importantly, they are different. Recommended for all woodworking collections. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
