Synopsis

In this update of editions from the 1980s (co-authored by Virginia Frye), Long (psychology, Appalachian State U.) and Williams (U. of Tennessee) intend to offer teachers more than a minimal survival guide. New chapters stress effective communication and balancing life inside and outside of the classroom. Recent research findings, functional behavior assessment, behavior contracts, and other strategies for reinforcing desired behaviors are presented. Issues relating to corporal punishment are also discussed. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
