About the Author, Katrina McPherson

Katrina McPherson is one of the first generation of truly hybrid video dance artists. She has wide experience as a dancer and choreographer, and as an award-winning dance fim maker.

Video Dance works Katrina has directed include:

* Pace (1996) Made with choreographer Marisa Zanotti. Commisioned by the BBC & Arts Council of England's "Dance for the Camera" series and broadcast on BBC2.

* Moment (2000) Awarded "Best Screen Choreography" at the IMZ Dance Screen Festival in Monaco.

* Sense-8 (2001) Made with choreographer Katy Dymoke, working with sighted and visually impaired dancers in the Contact Improvisation form. An Art's Council of England's "Capture" commission.

* The Truth (2003) The production diary for this half-hour dance film will be included in the "Making Video Dance" workbook.

Katrina co-runs the Inverness-shire based production company Goat with Simon Fildes. She has also taught extensively. She has lead many workshops, often alongside Simon, and has taught undergraduate courses in video dance, dance for television and other related subjects at the University of Surrey at Roehampton, at the London Studio Centre and at Napier University in Edinburgh. She is currently Research Fellow at Dundee University in Scotland.
