Carlos Mencia was born in Honduras and grew up in Los Angeles. One of 18 children, he always wanted more attention but was not sure how to get it. One day his friends convinced him to try out at a comedy club. From that day on, he knew exactly what he wanted to be-a stand-up comedian.

The path to fame was rocky. It was hard being a Latino comedian, and Mencia struggled to make a name for himself. But his routines made people laugh, and his determination paid off. Today, Carlos Mencia has all the attention he ever wanted. He is one of America's top comedians.
