Levitt is a management consultant who has trained some 7000 maintenance leaders from 3000 organizations in 20 countries. The revised edition of his text has been extensively rewritten to reflect changes in the field of managing factory maintenance since the first (1996) edition, including the globalization of the location of production and the changing of the guard of the leadership of maintenance. The material has also been reorganized into sections covering maintenance management in factory settings, including the context of managing maintenance, evaluating current practices, maintenance processes and process aids, maintenance strategies and approaches to deterioration, maintenance interfaces, and personal and personnel development.
