Labor cost, utilization, labor market behavior, and pay are among the aspects of running a hotel that Riley (organizational behavior, U. of Surrey) says are inseparable from the skills of people management. He extends his ideas of productivity he set out in the 1991 edition to encompass its relationship with functional flexibility, and extends ideas about motivating people to include modern notions about commitment.
