Children's Literature

This brief biography covers the successes of New York born, Puerto Rican pop singer/songwriter, Marc Anthony. This young man is credited with changing the Salsa scene and for bringing Latin music to the attention of a wider American audience. However, this outspoken star does not like to be lumped together with other Latin singers and prefers to let music speak for itself. Beginning with his moment of discovery, backtracking to childhood and then on to current successes, this short life history provides some interesting details but mostly provides inspiration to others about the rewards of hard work, determination and making dreams a reality. This will be a fine addition for school libraries and young loyal fans. It is part of the "Real Life Reader Biography" series that showcases the lives of current role models for young readers. 2001, Mitchell Lane, $15.95. Ages 8 to 12. Reviewer: Trina Heidt
