Children's Literature

Author Braun has presented a compact version of Marion Anderson's life and career. The text includes a time line, a glossary of definitions and additional resources available on this singers life story. The major events of Anderson's life are includedβ€”from her childhood through her adult life. There is mention of Anderson's attempt sing at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. which was not allowed because she was black. To expand on this, it would have been appropriate to mention that the President's wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, interceded and arranged for her to sing at the Lincoln Memorial. This title is part of the Pebble Books' "First Biographies" series. 2006, Capstone Press, Ages 5 to 7.
