Mario Lemieux was the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins and was most often compared to one of hockey's all-time greats, Wayne Gretzky. But when Mario damaged a disk m his spinal column, fans wondered if he would ever return to the ice. In 1990 Lemieux had surgery, and later developed a serious infection that prolonged his recovery. But he still returned in time to help his teammates win the Stanley Cup in 1991. In 1993 Mario was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, but again he was able to return to the sport he loved until he retired in 1997.Traces the hockey career of the Pittsburgh Penguins star, Mario Lemieux, and discusses the challenge he faced in his battle against Hodgkin's disease.
