Overview

Despite close affinities with Arte Povera, Marisa Merz has, since the middle of the sixties, created a unique and original œuvre independent of existing movements and disciplines. Intimate and visionary in nature, her works have revealed a complex network of references over the years, introducing to the sphere of contemporary sculpture ancient techniques of drawing and modelling as well as the everyday practices of play and knitting. This volume catalogues a 1998 exhibition in Bologna which covered the whole artistic output of Marisa Merz. It includes studies by the two curators, Castagnoli and Eccher, a long with a comprehensive body of critical essays. Text in English & Italian
