Overview

They called his condition Phocomelia, probably the result of Thalidomide or some medication prescribed for his mother. Born with tiny scissored legs, only one arm, and that tiny stump, Jeff spent his first years in a welfare center and then later in a Shriners' Hospital, where he learned to walk in braces, feed himself with a hook, and fight for survival.

Later he went to live in a home for the severely disabled, where he would have spent the rest of his life.

But God had other plans. The Master Artist was at work putting together the materials that He would use to create another masterpiece. Jeff Steinberg's story is about a masterpiece in progress - living proof of what a person can become when willing to be shaped by the hands of the Master Artist.

Someone once described Jeff as having "a face like B.J. Thomas and a voice like Neil Diamond." He now travels around the country, singing about what God has done with his life and encouraging others to be "the best YOU - you can be".

About the Author, Jeff Steinberg

Born August 18, 1951, Jeff Steinberg faced life with little hope - no arms and badly deformed legs. His mother did not learn about his disabilities until he was 17 months old and she did not see him until he was almost two years old, since Jeffrey was in a Children’s Shelter. He spent much of his early years in hospitals where he underwent orthopedic surgery, learned to walk with a brace and was fitted with his first prosthetic arm. At age nine, Jeff was made a Ward of the State of Pennsylvania, and placed into The Good Shepherd Home for the Physically Handicapped in Allentown, PA, where he lived until he was 19 years old.

Through the love of a local Christian couple, this young Jewish boy met his Messiah and discovered the truth that became the foundation of his life: "...I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14)

Jeff Steinberg is a Masterpiece In Progress – and he wants you to know it! He sees his disabilities as assets, not liabilities. He believes, β€œA quitter never wins; and a winner never quits!” Jeff is proof that, β€œGod uses the least likely person to accomplish the most extraordinary things.” Jeff is an evangelist, author, humorist and singer and for more than 35 years has traveled the globe delivering his very special message that that a real handicap is "anything that keeps me from being or becoming all that God created me to be."
