Gr 3-6-Similar to traditional flashcards, this program uses repetition to help students memorize multiplication and division facts from 0-12. Users select one- or two-player game, and choose multiplication, division, or both. In the one-player game, the student completes a series of 25 problems. Answers can be entered by using the computer keyboard, or by using the mouse to click on the numbers on the screen. Sound effects distinguish correct and incorrect responses. After completing all of the problems, the program displays the student's final percentage. This scorecard can be printed to track progress and to show problems to practice. Throughout the game, the player can click on a multiplication table icon to help find an answer. When pressing the Help button on the multiplication table, a narrator explains how to find a multiplication and division answer using the table. The multiplication table can be printed out for ready reference. In the two-player game, each player finishes five problems. Upon completing the problems, the players receive a time bonus, percent correct, and total bonus. Scores are displayed throughout the game so each player can see how the other one is doing. After each student answers 25 questions, the final scorecard is displayed and can be printed. Interesting animation and graphics enhance the program. Installation is easy. This program is a good alternative to traditional flashcards because individual progress can be tracked by printing scorecards.-Anita Paque, Templeton Middle School, Sussex, WI Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.
