Synopsis

It is wintertime and Max and Mo want to go play in the snow. If only it wasnot so cold out there! Instead, Max and Mo decide to make a snowman in thewarmth of the art room. Would you like to make a snowman too?

Children's Literature

AGERANGE: Ages 4 to 6.

Max and Mo are classroom pets, but they are a smart pair. They live in their cage and watch everything the kids do. On this particular day, the students are creating paper snowflakes. When Max points out that it is indeed snowing outside, they watch the kids race out to create a snowman. These two friends decide the want to make one too, but once outside they realize it is much too cold for them. The ingenious pair create a snowman out of paper, using a tube to make it stand up. They glue on seeds to mimic what the kids have done to create the nose and mouth for their snowman. It is pretty exhausting work and after it is done, they each snuggle up inside a mitten while the students and their teacher all marvel at the snowman made of paper. The following pages provide instructions for making your own paper snowman. Not a bad idea for kids who may not see snow or who cannot go outside to create one. A level 1 book in the "Ready-to-Read" series, which at this level emphasizes word repetition and simple sentences. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
