From The Critics
Reviewer: Joyce L. Melius, MSN, RN, CCRN, CS(Southwestern Adventist University)Description: This book is designed to help students review nursing content for exams and the NCLEX. It has concise content outlines divided by physiological system. Included is a CD-ROM containing tutorial test questions and a test with 256 questions.
Purpose: The purpose is to help students get the most from their preparation, study, and review time for their nursing exams.
Audience: The authors are targeting this book to nursing students, especially those studying for the NCLEX.
Features: This book is divided into physiologic sections. Prior to the systems, a thorough, helpful section is included that outlines test taking and studying strategies. Each section is divided into headings such as Fast Facts, Content Review, WEB resources, Review Questions, and finally rationale and test taking tips. Excellent black-and-white illustrations of key content are included. The information outlined is concise and linked to the nursing process and nursing interventions. A CD-ROM is included with high-level questions that will make the student think and prioritize information.
Assessment: I have not seen the prior edition, but this is an excellent book for final review for exams and the NCLEX. The book is small, yet covers topics precisely and is to the point. The CD-ROM has excellent high-level questions that make users think and prioritize material according to the nursing process.
