Overview
When Donald Joy first wrote this book (then titled Unfinished Business) in 1988, the men's movement had not yet crested. There were no drum-pounding retreats being reported in the media or secular best-sellers telling men it was okay to cry. Obviously ahead of its time, Joy's book received critical acclaim but little popular support. Now, even the Christian community has taken renewed interest in reaching out to men, and Donald Joy, truly a pioneer on the subject, has revised this new paperback edition to speak to a waiting generation.
Peeling away the cultural and un-Christian trappings that have accompanied the secular movement, Joy cuts to the core of men's true needs and concerns. Among the subjects he confronts are the father-son, mother-son, and husband-wife relationships, celebrating our male/female distinctives, our need to compete, and our struggle to forge man-to-man friendships.
