This volume provides ground-breaking new evidence about prehistoric life in Britain—focusing on the little studied communities of the South West and Wales. New evidence from these intertidal and coastal zones now allows a reassessment of Mesolithic people and their settlements, as well as providing valuable case studies from nationally important Bronze Age sites such as Brean Down on the Somerset Levels. New palaeoenvironmental evidence is also presented. The uniquely well-preserved remains of many of these coastal sites will add to existing overviews of prehistoric settlement and culture in Britain, as well as set new standards for investigating intertidal zones.
