Synopsis

A historical and current look at Mexico, discussing the land, the government, the people, and the economy.

School Library Journal

Gr 4-8-Covering Mexico's land, history and government, people, culture, and economy, this revision of the 1988 edition has a plethora of information. The old edition is definitely outdated with a hodgepodge of tiny black-and-white photos along with a few in drab colors. Full-color photos, maps, and drawings enhance this new text. The look is far more appealing, and the back matter is an excellent source of precise facts. Additions to this section include a time line beginning in 12,000 B.C.E. and ending in 2002, fast facts, currency, the flag, national anthem, famous people, sights to see, a glossary of words not defined in the text, and a lengthy index. The older edition contains only an index. It's time to replace the earlier version with this upbeat, current look at Mexico that is perfectly suited for reports.-Sandra Welzenbach, Villarreal Elementary School, San Antonio, TX Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
