Whether they stockpile rocks, baseball cards, or video games, some kids are born collectors, and it's to them this new and unusual series, Collectibles, is addressed. Young takes his subject seriously, supplying tips on collecting, historical perspective, and current information on toy manufacturers and the manufacturing process. Although not a browser's book in the traditional sense, this has an adequate number of photographs (most are in color), all of which are nicely captioned, and the extra leading makes the type easy to read. A wonderful bonus for kids is a section listing further resources and places to visit, among them the Matchbox Road Museum and the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village. A time line and a glossary are appended.
