Overview
This is a detailed tutorial on the design and integration of mobile ad-hoc networks, temporary communications nets constructed on the fly for locations and situations where building a permanent installation isnβt possible.George Aggelou is a professor of electronic engineering at the Institute of Technology, Greece and the Director of G-Alpha Telecomms, consultants who build next-generation networks for enterprises and industry. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Surrey. His doctoral research, which was fully sponsored from Lucent Technologies, Middlesex, UK, was on wireless ad hoc and third generation (3G) mobile networks. Prof. Aggelou has been actively involved in standardization efforts for wireless mobile networking for nearly 10 years, first as a researcher at IBM, T.J. Watson Research Center, in New York and later as Team Leader at Cisco in London. He is the cofounder of Mobile E-commerce Technologies Ltd., London. Prof. Aggelou is the recipient of the U.K. Prize for Research of Excellence 2000 for his research innovations on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking. Prof. Aggelou is an active participant in several IEEE technical committees and activities. He has served on the Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong. He is also a member of the Research Grants Evaluation Committee (FP5 & FP6) of the European Union.
