Purpose: The purpose is to provide a summary of the state-of-the-art mathematical, statistical, and econometric models pertaining to prediction of AIDS- and HIV-related outcomes, particularly in the context of management and policy making in public health. This is a fairly technical and yet remarkably readable collection of essays, with special emphasis on planning, policy, and prediction. In view of the importance of containing the spread of AIDS in all parts of the world, this is an important contribution to the field.
Audience: The book is written primarily for professionals involved in research or policy making in public health, such as epidemiologists, statisticians, mathematicians, and econometricians working in academic, business, or government institutions. The authors are respected scientists and so are the many international contributors.
Features: There are numerous charts, graphs, and mathematical formulas in this book presented in a visually appealing manner. The book contains more than 1,000 up-to-date references and a 12-page subject index.
