Overview

Art in Detail: Modern Architecture takes a unique approach to revealing and illuminating, in close-up detail, the design styles and techniques of the leading architects of the modern age. Using a series of die-cut windows, the book allows the reader to view twenty of the most significant modern buildings—including Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye and the extraordinary Burj Al Arab Hotel— from a variety of angles and viewpoints.

  • Every building is beautifully reproduced and accompanied by a timeline showing its place in the genre.
  • Carefully positioned, reversible die-cut windows allow each building to be viewed as a spotlit and magnified detail, with text and graphics summarizing the architect’s characteristic design style and explaining construction and engineering techniques.
  • An innovative and irresistible art giftbook that reveals and revitalizes the design and construction of twenty significant works of modern architecture.
