Overview

Read this book to find out the answers to these questions and more. Each title in Living in the Wild: Primates contains an introduction to primates as well as information about their classification, habitats, adaptations, food chains, life cycles, behaviors, and intelligence. You will also learn about threats these primates face and what people are doing to help protect them. Discover ways these creatures are making headlines, fascinating facts about them, and the scientists who have studied them. Each title includes maps, charts, and colorful photographs in addition to a creature profile to help you learn everything you want to know about each primate.

Heinemann Infosearch asks the questions you want answered. Each chapter starts with a different question and gives a detailed answer.

Gr 2–4β€”These meaty introductions to our closest animal relatives will give young readers a solid grounding in primates' physical features, social habits, mental capabilities, and lives in their wild habitats. Sidebars profile scientists, such as Dian Fossey and Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, and cover how much they have learned about the animals from observing and interacting with them in both their natural environments and in captivity. Though there is some uneven coverage (monkeys are squeezed together in a single title while bonobos and orangutans have books of their own), there is still plenty of information in any of these volumes for assignment use. All of them are liberally illustrated with animal (and researcher) photos and enhanced by fact boxes and side commentary.
