Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

A retelling of a traditional Navajo tale in which the twin sons of Changing Woman free their village from the terrible wrath of the Walking Giant. The Anasazis' numbers were dwindling because the monster of the earth was eating them. The people decide to ask Changing Woman if her brave twin sons could rescue them and they did. The one who killed the demon became know as Monster Slayer. The stylized illustrations are rich in the colors of the earth and display Navajo art and artifacts. National Cowboy Hall of Fame Best Juvenile Book and Western Heritage Award winner.
