Children's Literature -
Author Graham has written yet another book on wheeled vehicles. Monster Trucks, like the others in the "Mighty Machines" series, has big, colorful photographs and easy-to-read text. The opening pages describe monster trucks as the world's biggest, fastest and most powerful trucks. They have extra-large wheels that thrill crowds at truck shows. Bigfoot monster trucks have huge wheels that children can stand inside. Monster truck races are held in stadiums and at racetracks. People enjoy watching these races because the trucks are powerful and roar around bends or over hills. Drivers and their trucks also perform freestyle. Drivers make their trucks do wheelies, ride over ramps and jump into the air. Other huge trucks also include hardworking trucks that carry large loads such as a house. The tractor part of the truck pulls the load while the trailer carries it. Monster miners are oversized dump trucks. They haul heavy loads of rock that often contain valuable metals. The trucks never leave the mines because they are too big to go on main roads. Back material includes hands-on-activities and a glossary of truck terms. Once again, children will enjoy reading the easy text and looking at the many oversized photographs. Reviewer: Della A. YannuzziBook Details
