About the Author, Becky Lomax

During college, Becky Lomax worked two summers for Glacier Park, Inc., in Glacier Park Lodge’s kitchen, shredding lettuce for salads as an excuse to hike. While the sum total of her earnings tallied less than $300 that first summer, she walked away having hiked nearly 300 miles of the park’s trails. Seasonal jobs attracted Becky: Winter work included Big Mountain Ski Resort followed by Glacier Nordic Center, and summer jobs followed with the forest service and guiding in Glacier National Park. She has worked as a hiking and backpacking guide in Glacier since 1997.

Becky is a frequent contributor to regional magazines, such as Flathead Living, Montana Magazine, and Montana Outdoors, and also writes for Backpacker and copy edits for Cross Country Skier. She lives in Whitefish, MT.
