Synopsis

Mountains are the home of significant ecological resources that are subject to visible and growing pressures. Using as case studies four mountain resorts in four ranges in the US and Canada, this interdisciplinary book, written by ecologists and lawyers, analyzes whether the law protects the ecological systems of mountains from the adverse impacts associated with resorts, and how it might better recognize the value of the mountain ecosystem.
